TAQA Morocco extends PPA contract for Jorf Lasfar plant by 17 years
The Jorf Lasfar power plant has a total capacity of 2,056MW, which meets more than 40% of Morocco’s electricity needs
Casablanca Stock Exchange-listed TAQA Morocco, which is a part of the Abu Dhabi National Energy Company PJSC (TAQA), has inked a deal with Morocco's National Office for Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE) to extend its power purchase agreement (PPA) contract for the Jorf Lasfar Units 1-4 for a period of 17 years from 2027 to 2044.
The Jorf Lasfar thermal power plant has an overall capacity of 2,056 megawatts (MW), which meets more than 40% of Morocco’s electricity needs.
This extended PPA contract will continue to allow TAQA Morocco to support Morocco’s growing economy through the secure supply of electricity.
Commenting on the agreement, the chief executive officer of the Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA), Saeed Hamad Al Dhaheri, said: “The extension of the PPA in Morocco speaks to the strong expertise and technical capabilities of our in-country team and will allow us to build upon our successes in Morocco as we continue to explore opportunities across our power and water business.”
