Oman’s Salalah Free Zone (SFZ) has revealed that it has signed a contract to develop a cable car manufacturing and assembly plant that will be built on a land area spanning 5,000m2.

In an Arabic-language statement on its Twitter account, SFZ said: “In Turkey, the Salalah Free Zone signed a usufruct agreement to establish a cable car installation and assembly station on a land area of 5,000m2.”

According to the chief executive officer of SFZ, Ali Tabouk, the cable car project, upon being operational, will be used by 2.5 million users annually.

In September 2019, Oman’s BTC Company signed an agreement with the Salalah Free Zone Company to set up a 10ha logistics wholesale city in SFZ with an investment of $20m (OMR7.7m), with the facility set to create more than 1,500 direct jobs in the Sultanate.

SFZCO has also signed an agreement with Al Naqbi Group Holding to develop a food processing unit within SFZ, worth $10m (OMR3.8m). As part of the agreement 80% of the products manufactured within the facility will be exported to international markets.
