Saudi Arabia’s Sahara International Petrochemical Company (Siphecm) has commenced the unplanned turnaround maintenance for the propane dehydrogenation (PDH) plant of its affiliate, Al-Waha Petrochemical Company.

In a stock market filing, Sipchem said that the maintenance activities were scheduled to being on 1 April 2020.

However, with the commencement of the activities before schedule “will avoid the need to shut down the plant again on 1 April”.

The statement added: “The target is to complete all maintenance activities before the end of March 2020 so that the plant can commence reliable operations and achieve its future operational plans.”

Sipchem also said that the financial impact of the “disruption depends on both the actual maintenance period and average product sales prices during the same period”.

The impact will be reflected in its financial results of Q1 2020.

“All necessary precautions have been taken to avoid any impact on Al-Waha’s obligations toward customers,” the statement added.

The company said that it will announce any other developments regarding the project in due course.
