The UAE’s Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has announced that it will allow construction companies to construct housing facilities for workers at its construction sites.

The announcement has been made in line with the coordination between the MoHRE, relevant municipalities, and local authorities, the UAE's state-held news agency, Wam, reported.

With the construction of these housing facilities, the companies are called upon to ensure appropriate distancing between workers at housing sites and cities to avoid the spread of COVID-19.

Additionally, the move will also allow construction companies to continue construction work at projects, following workers’ restriction of movement between emirates due to the precautionary measures adopted by the country to combat the pandemic.

The ministry stressed on the necessity for companies that wish to build housing facilities to follow all regulations and standards established by local authorities to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus.

According to the ministry, joint campaigns will be carried out to monitor workers’ accommodation in order to ensure that these facilities meet occupational health and safety requirements and precautionary measures.
