Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) has announced 76% of construction completion on its headquarters extension, foreseeing full completion on the project by early 2021.

DCCI's headquarters extension will host trade promotion offices, shops, restaurants, cafes and smart parking facilities with a capacity of 330 cars.

Construction completion of the structure falls under Phase 1 of the project and will be achieved by September 2020, DCCI said in a statement.

Phase 2 and the final leg of the project will be complete by mid-January 2021; it will include the installation of solar panels and wind turbines as well as the construction of a pedestrian bridge connecting the extension with the main headquarters building.

When completed, the five-storey building will span an area of 19,000m2 and host an office space of 4,000m2.

The structure is designed to earn a LEED Platinum certification with over 40% of its energy requirements to be delivered by clean sources.

DCCI has several sustainability milestones and titles to its credit including 'the first building in the region to achieve LEED certification in 2009' and a LEED Platinum certification for its headquarters in 2014. In addition, DCCI invested $1.47m (AED5.4m) in the University of Dubai, which became 'the first LEED certified net-zero energy building in the region' in 2019.

The expansion project supports DCCI's efforts to meet the evolving needs of Dubai’s dynamic business community, while also adding to its achievements in green building and sustainability.
