The world’s first floating structure in Dubai has been approved for registration as a villa by government authorities, according to developer Kleindienst Group.

Part of Kleindienst Group’s The Heart of Europe scheme, The Floating Seahorse Villas have been okayed for classification as 'villas'. As a result, the developer said, buyers of the homes could be among the world’s first individuals to not only own the structure, but “also the ocean plot beneath as a pioneers of ocean ownership, subject to authority approval”.

Kleindienst said it has initiated the plot sub-division application process in this direction. The developer said that “adding ocean ownership through the title deed” would “significantly” raise the value of each unit within The Floating Seahorse Villas scheme.

“Once completed, [the deed] will allow owners to treat their property in the same way as an onshore one” Kleindienst said in a statement.

Founder and chairman of the real estate company, Josef Kleindienst, said The Heart of Europe had achieved yet another “world-first” milestone.

“The registration of The Floating Seahorse Villas as a ‘villa’ is the first step to enabling people to have a title deed to their own piece of ocean,” Kleindienst's founder continued.

“It will make true ocean-living a reality for the first time in the world.”
