A women-only beachfront project with shops, restaurants, and a swimming pool is being developed in Abu Dhabi’s Al Dhafra Region.
Abu Dhabi’s Department of Urban Planning (DPM) announced on its Instagram account that it is collaborating with Al Dhafra Region Municipality – an independent government entity under DPM – on the leisure and hospitality development.
The beachfront will cost up to $7.3m (AED27m) to develop and covers a total area of 18,000m² in Al Dhafra, which covers nearly two-thirds of Abu Dhabi’s total geographic area.
The project comprises a swimming pool and a beach. A sea barrier will be built to protect the coastal area from tides and waves.
Public facilities such as bathrooms, restaurants, shaded areas, a car park, service buildings, washing areas, and a children’s games space will be built for the project. Al Dhafra Region Municipality is leading the project with support from DPM.
A picture shared on DPM’s Instagram account shows scaffolding and formwork moulds set up onsite, with machinery and workers also engaged for the project.
