My City Centre Masdar will open in Q2 2019.

Majid Al Futtaim’s $81.7m (AED300m) My City Centre Masdar project, the developer's first mall in Abu Dhabi, is set to open in Q2 2019.

The retail giant said construction on My City Centre Masdar had created “1,500 employment opportunities in its build-out phase”, adding that post-launch, the development will generate 2,000 jobs.

Comprising 1.85ha of gross leasable area, My City Centre Masdar aims to achieve Abu Dhabi’s Estidama Pearl 3 rating, according to Majid Al Futtaim. Estidama Pearl 3 is equivalent to Leed Gold for energy and water conservation performance.

The mall is located close to the proposed Masdar City metro station and within 300m of the nearest proposed light rail and bus rapid transit stops.

Commenting on the project, Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, Masdar’s chief executive officer, said: “We expect the number of people living within [Masdar City] to triple by 2020 in line with our ambitious growth plans. My City Centre Masdar is a valuable addition to our retail portfolio."
