India's L&T has won a gas pipeline contract in Kuwait.

Indian construction and engineering firm, Larsen & Turbo (L&T) has bagged a "large" pipeline construction contract from Kuwait Oil Company (KOC), the company revealed in a missive on Bombay bourse.

The gas export pipeline's contract was awarded through competitive bidding on a lump-sum, turnkey basis, the contractor said.

L&T classifies a "large" contract as one that is valued at $360-720m.

“The gas pipeline and its associated facilities will be constructed in a course of 145km,” contractor added.

In Kuwait, the Indian contractor operates as Larsen & Toubro Kuwait Construction, which is a joint venture of L&T and Bader Al Mulla and Brothers Co. Its ongoing projects in the Gulf state include a 122cm crude transit line from North Kuwait to a central mixing manifold near Ahmadi.

The news comes after L&T introduced a technology initiative called L&T-Nxt to support its work with new tech tools such as the internet of things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), and augmented reality.

In March 2019, L&T Heavy Engineering, the Omani subsidiary of L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering Ltd, bagged an engineering, procurement, and construction contract to build a $450m (OMR173.3m) coke calciner project in Sohar, which will be funded by Saleem Industrial Projects and BSW Group Holdings.
