The design of Expo 2020 Dubai’s Saudi Arabia Pavilion has been revealed, with the structure – which will be the event’s second-largest after the UAE Pavilion – featuring a façade that “opens like a large window”.

Boris Micka Associates designed the pavilion, with construction works having started on the structure in February 2019. In a statement, Expo 2020 Dubai said the pavilion would be “instantly recognisable” for the visitors of the next World Expo, which opens its doors on 20 October, 2020.

Construction Week has requested Expo 2020 Dubai for details about the construction companies building the pavilion.

Spanning 1.3ha, Saudi Arabia Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai will cover an area equal to the size of two football pitches, and its theme will focus on “balancing the richness of the nation’s history, culture, and natural wonders with the boundless energy and creativity of its people”. EXPO 2020 DUBAI'S TWO-YEAR COUNTDOWN FACT-SHEET

Commenting on the structure, HE Reem Al Hashimy, UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation and Director General of Dubai Expo 2020 Bureau, said: “The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s pavilion at Expo 2020 will offer visitors a chance to experience the country’s rich heritage and culture, while demonstrating how our region is working together to create a better future for everyone.”
