Musanada completes construction of $16m bridge in Abu Dhabi
450 engineers and workers helped build the interchange that links Al Aryam Island and the Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed highway
Abu Dhabi General Services Company, also referred to as Musanada, has completed construction work on the $15.8m (AED58m) Al Aryam Bridge Interchange project, being built on the Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed international highway.
Musanada finished the project in collaboration with the capital's Department of Transport (DoT).
The bridge interchange connects Al Aryam Island, located 60km from Abu Dhabi city, and the Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed highway, and has been developed to improve the main road network in the emirate.
According to a report by state news agency Wam, Musanada deployed 450 engineers and workers to construct the main bridge, in addition to entrances and exits off the structure.
Construction work on the project also included building a surface water sewer network and accessories; installing traffic signs; and developing roads. In a move to reduce energy consumption by 41%, Musanada has also supplied LED street lighting for the project.
The project scope also included the maintenance of the 12.2km main road connecting Al Aryam Island to the new bridge, in addition to providing traffic safety measures, including road markings, traffic signs, and ground reflective indicators.
Musanada completed the bridge project days after it started construction on the $26.4m (AED97m) on the Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Road (E10). The project aims to widen the road from Dhafeer Street to Salama Bin Butti Street by adding a new lane; and increasing the current four-lane road to five.
