Infra contract signed for Reem Island's 149ha Najmat in Abu Dhabi
National Projects and Construction to provide Phase 3 infrastructure works under latest contract with Reem Developers
The development arm of the UAE’s Reem Investments has awarded a construction contract for infrastructure works for its Najmat project on Reem Island in Abu Dhabi.
According to a filing on Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange, where the investment firm is listed, Reem Developers has awarded a deal to National Projects and Construction for Phase 3 of infrastructure works at the 148.6ha development.
The value of the contract and scope of works were not included in the bourse missive, and Construction Week has requested Reem Developers for these details.
Reem Investments' website lists Reem Developers as the masterplanner of the Najmat and Rawdhat projects, located along Abu Dhabi's Airport Road.
The news comes roughly four months after Reem Developers awarded Engneering Construction and Development Co a contract for a residential tower at Reem Island.
Reem Island is a mixed-use development spanning around 650ha. The island is home to numerous architectural landmarks in the UAE, such as the Stonehenge-style Gate Towers and Paris-Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi.
It is also the home of Al Farwaniya Property Developments’ Reem Mall, the $1.2bn (AED4.4bn) facility that is being built by a joint venture of Itinera and Ghantoot.
Construction work has started on the 1.1ha Snow Park within Reem Mall, as reported by Construction Week earlier this month.
