The Al-Salam Palace museum in Kuwait is to be reopened following an inauguration ceremony by HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah on 29 April, state news agency, Kuna, reported.

The historical building, one of Kuwait's top architectural landmarks, was originally built in the 1960s but was significantly damaged in the 1990s, according to project management and design consultancy SSH.

The business has been involved in the restoration of Al-Salam Palace, which is due to reopen as a museum charting the history of Kuwait, according to a description of the project on SSH's website.

As well as creating a museum, the restoration of the palace has led to the creation of a visitor centre and palace garden.

SSH said the project was being managed under a design-and-build model, with Combined Group Contracting Co working as main contractor.

The reopening of the cultural landmark in Kuwait comes just months after Abu Dhabi completed and reopened Qasr Al Hosn, following an 11-year renovation to one of the oldest sites in the emirate.
