Pictures are now available of the global research centre that India-headquartered Himalaya Drug Company will build in Dubai Science Park (DSP) to expand its presence in the Middle East.

Due to open in 2021, the centre will focus on product development, quality control, and standardisation, according to a report by UAE state news agency, Wam.

It is also expected to support the company’s existing facility within DSP’s laboratory complex, which has been operational since 2013.

One-hundred jobs are expected to be created through the research centre.

Himalaya produces 300 cosmetics, nutritional supplements, herbal medicines, and pharmaceutical-grade Ayurvedic products.

The centre will be developed under the built-to-suit model. [supplied]

Positive relations between the UAE and India have resulted in several Indian companies establishing their Middle East head offices in the UAE, managing director of DSP, Marwan Abdulaziz Janahi, said when the project was announced in May 2019.

Janahi added: “Our robust infrastructure and business-friendly environment are among the key factors that encourage these companies to establish their Middle East head offices in the UAE."
