Construction work on Oman’s Salalah Liquefied Petroleum Gas (SLPG) project has progressed by more than 60%, with developer Oman Gas Company expecting to complete all project works by Q3 2020.Â
The foundation stone for SLPG, which is valued at $826m (OMR318m), was laid in April 2018.
Petrofac is involved as engineering, procurement, and construction contractor for the project.
The update, published by Oman’s state-held news agency, ONA, came after SLPG’s team signed two power connection and supply agreements with Dhofar Power Company.
Chief executive officer of Dhofar Power Company, Eng Ali bin Issa Shamas, and acting CEO of Oman Gas Company, Sultan bin Hamad al-Bartmani, signed the deals.
When it is operational, the project’s main LPG extraction plant will have a daily processing capacity of 8.8 million m3.
