South Korea’s Ssangyong Engineering and Construction (Ssangyong E&C), an ICD Group company, has been awarded a construction contract worth $168m (AED617m) to work on Wasl Asset Management Group’s 44-storey residential tower, Dubai 1.

Located in Al Kifaf between Etisalat Building and Zabeel Park, Dubai 1 features two towers, the first of which has a built-up area of 10.1ha, and the second of 9.6ha.

Each of the towers is shaped as the number ‘1’ and face each other.

Floors 35-42 of the project will be linked by a bridge, Ssangyong E&C said, according to a report by Korean daily Maeil Business.

Residential amenities such as swimming pools and parks will be developed as part of the project.

The contract marks a repeat win for Ssangyong, which is already engaged as contractor for Wasl’s Hyatt-run Andaz hotel project in Dubai.
