The Kuwaiti body tasked with overseeing the country’s public-private partnerships (PPP) will soon invite bids for the construction of a 40ha car auction market in Arifan, located in Al-Ahmadi Governorate.

According to an Arabic language report by local Kuwaiti daily Alanba, Kuwait Authority for Partnership Projects’ (Kapp) bidding plans for fiscal year 2019/20 include three tenders, one of which is for the construction and operation of the auction market.

The other two relate to the provision of financial and legal advisory services to support Kapp's programmes.

Quoting a Kapp statement, Alanba reported the car market project would comprise auction rooms, auto service offices, used car exhibition halls, and other facilities.

Established in 2008 under Article 12 of Law No. 7/2008, Kapp serves as the main body responsible for overseeing the implementation of Kuwait’s PPP projects.

According to information on its website, Kapp aims to “utilise private sector skills and expertise to maximize value for money and service quality”.

The group is currently in the process of initiating several high-impact projects in the power, water, education, health, transportation, communications, real estate, and solid waste management sectors.

The news comes weeks after Kapp and Kuwait Municipality invited six shortlisted Kuwaiti real estate developers to submit proposals for an upcoming entertainment, cultural, commercial and sports centre within the Al-Egaila area of Al-Ahmadi.

According to information on Kapp’s website, the last day for the companies to submit the proposals for the PPP project is 14 June, 2019.
