Construction on the UAE's Bateen Al Samar Residential District, located along Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road on Exit 122 towards Ras Al Khaimah (Rak) – on which Aswar Engineering & General Contracting Co is working – will complete in Q3 2020, it has been confirmed by Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme's head of committee services coordination and director general, Jameela Al Fandi.

The 888-home project is divided into three phases and groups, of which the first includes 354 homes across a 90.5ha plot, with Group 1 to comprise 240 homes on a 52.1ha plot.

Group 2 includes 294 homes on a land area of 78ha, with the overall development featuring five home layouts for UAE citizens.

During a meeting of the housing programme's committee, Al Fandi said the authority would adopt the 'Quality of Life Manual' for its residential communities, as "approved by the Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, at the start of [2019], in cooperation with various government authorities and in line with the national agenda of the UAE 2021 Vision and the UAE Centennial 2071", UAE state news agency, Wam, reported.

UAE Minister of Infrastructure Development and chairman of Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme, Dr Abdullah bin Mohammed Belhaif Al Nuaimi, signed a $84.4m (AED310m) contract in March 2018 with Aswar for the construction and maintenance of Bateen Al Samar Residential Complex's Phase 2.

The contract involved the construction and maintenance of 240 houses. The contractor began site preparation in March 2018, and construction work was to commence in the third quarter of the year.
