Oman's Sultan Qaboos University has laid the foundation stone for an integrated service oil station – comprising a car wash, a service area, and a mosque in Phase 1 – that Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) will help develop within its premises, with completion on the project due in H2 2019.

Director of investment at the university’s income department,  Mohammed bin Ramdan Al Baloushi, said its contract with PDO also includes the provision of standard fuel station services.

Phase 2 of the project will include a commercial complex with shop spaces, a gym, and a cultural activity hall.

Completion on the second phase is due in 2020, local daily Times of Oman reported.

Commenting on the contract, Al Baloushi added: “Another cooperation will be through this contract, which is to support student training, activities and research in the fields of company specialisation, in addition, the university employees and students will receive a discount in the services provided through this project.”
