Bahrain Airport Company (BAC) and the kingdom's Civil Aviation Affairs (CAA) met earlier this week to discuss and review security plans for Bahrain International Airport’s (BAH) upcoming passenger terminal building, which is due to open in Q3 2019.

Attendees, including BAC’s chief executive officer, Mohamed Yousif Al Binfalah, and other senior officials from both organisations, discussed new terminal access control strategies, and airport security zones for the facility, covering aspects such as the development of an enhanced process for security passes, key management systems, and a new airport security pass format.

Commenting on the meeting according to Bahrain’s state news agency BNA, Binfalah said: “CAA plays an important role in maintaining the high security standards at BAH through its oversight responsibilities, and its support is even more vital as we prepare to transition operations to the new passenger terminal building.

“The entire aviation value chain has a role to play in keeping the industry safe. Close collaboration with government authorities and CAA is essential to ensure the security systems and procedures implemented at the new terminal are in line with international standards and local regulations.”
