American engineering company Jacobs has been selected by Saudi Arabia's Sepco to deliver engineering services for Packages 4, 5, and 6 of Saudi Aramco-held King Salman International Complex for Maritime Industries and Services in Ras Al Khair.

The shipyard complex covers an area of 4.3km2, and will be the “largest in the region” when complete, Jacobs said in a statement.

The facility will provide offshore structural fabrication, and services related to ship building and maintenance, repair, and overhaul.

Commenting on the contract, Sepco's project manager, Zhang Zhong Xiang, said: “Sepco awarded the engineering contract to Jacobs with the expectation of leveraging their global engineering expertise on this project.

"We look forward to a successful venture that will play a major role in the development of projects in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030.”

Jacobs' senior vice president and general manager for buildings and infrastructure in the Apac and Middle East, Patrick Hill, said the award underscored the company’s long-term commitment to the kingdom.
