Saudi Arabia has agreed to establish and equip schools across various regions in Jordan at a cost of $50m (SAR187.5m) through the Saudi Fund for Development (SDFD).

SDFD's board vice chairman, Dr Khalid bin Sulaiman Al-Khudairy, signed a financing agreement for the project with Jordan's Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Mohammed Al-Assass.

The signing ceremony was attended by Prince Khalid bin Faisal bin Turki, Saudi Ambassador to Jordan, and Dr Walid Maani, Jordanian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

The Jordanian minister appreciated Saudi Arabia's contribution to the GCC grant to carry out critical social infrastructure projects, Saudi Arabia's state news agency, SPA, reported.
