Tunisia has called on further support from China to assist in several construction projects across the country, with Tunisian Prime Minister Youssef Chahed stating during a meeting with Chinese Ambassador Wang Wenbin that he hoped the Asian superpower would help build highways, railways, bridges, and economic zones in Tunisia.

According to Chinese news outlet Xinhua, PM Chahed also praised the Chinese government for its support and assistance to Tunisia over the years and hoped to continue building relations between the two countries.

Last year, China and Tunisia signed a memorandum of understanding on the Belt and Road initiative, which aims to build a trade and infrastructure network connecting Asia with Europe, as well as Africa.
