Construction work on the Middle East’s largest aquarium, The National Aquarium at the under-construction 2.4km Al Qana waterfront project in Abu Dhabi, is 70% complete, with the facility set to open in early-2020.

Developed by Al Barakah International Investment, the Al Qana project is scheduled to be fully complete by Q4 2020

Spanning 7,000m2, the Okyanus-designed aquarium will host one million visitors every year, and will be home to more than 33,000 marine creatures, with 80 qualified marine experts and specialists to work at the facility.

Commenting on the project, general manager of The National Aquarium, Paul Hamilton, said: “This is the 12th public aquarium that I’ve worked on and probably the most exciting, in terms of the scale, uniqueness and attention to detail."
