British hotel chain IHG has expanded its footprint across Saudi Arabia with the signing of Voco Makkah – its largest Voco-branded property in the world – in partnership with Maad International.

IHG said the Saudi Arabia property would be operational from the beginning of 2020.

The 4,200-room hotel will be located within Maad Hospitality Towers Development, a mixed-used megaproject that includes restaurants, lounge areas, event halls, and separate male and female prayer halls.

Commenting on the new property, IHG’s managing director for India, Middle East, and Africa, Pascal Gauvin, said: “Having opened our first Saudi hotel, Intercontinental Riyadh, in 1975, we have gained significant experience and expertise in running successful operations in Saudi Arabia, and particularly in Makkah."
