American construction contractor McDermott has signed a contract to provide front-end engineering design (Feed) services for a liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering project at Sohar Port.

The project will include preparing tenders for the engineering, procurement, supply, construction, and commissioning phase, as well as defining onshore mid-scale LNG facilities.

Agreed with Total Oman E&P Development, in partnership with Oman Oil Company (OOC), McDermott will begin working on the development with immediate effect.

Commenting on the contract, McDermott’s senior vice president for the Mena region, Linh Austin, said: “This award is a reflection of McDermott's 60-year history of delivering innovative LNG solutions worldwide, beginning with our tank storage solutions in the 1950s, to our liquefaction capabilities today."
