Construction work on Kuwait Municipal Council's new headquarters building, a 7.76ha structure located in Kuwait City’s Qibla area, is 95% compete, with chairman of Kuwait’s municipal council, Osama Al-Otaibai, revealing that the existing building would be transformed into a museum under the supervision of National Council of Culture, Arts, and Letters.

The existing building will be preserved due to its historic significance, since it was home to the first National Assembly session in Kuwait in 1963, and continued to be used so until 1992.

Kuwait Municipal Council was among the entities involved with the Sheikh Jaber Causeway, widely touted as one of the world’s longest road bridges.

Al-Otaibi said in February 2019 that the causeway would be one of the world’s “most gigantic high-speed bridges”.
