SCTH prompts 67 Saudi Arabian youths to build Souq Okaz market
Saudi youths delivered services related to art, engineering, design, carpentry and blacksmithing, plumbing, and electrics
Sixty-seven Saudi Arabian young men and women have established the 13th iteration of the Souk Okaz market as part of a Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTH) initiative to support employment in the kingdom.
The youths were tasked with constructing the historic market, which spans 41,000m2, and completed the project within 35 days, delivering services related to art, engineering, design, carpentry and blacksmithing, plumbing, and electrics with assistance from 247 workers from different nationalities.
Souk Okaz has 200 shops selling pottery, silverware, glassware, wall arts, and historical manuscripts, as well as textiles, handicrafts, and leather goods. The market also includes restaurants and cafes, SCTH said in a statement.
