IHG to open Holiday Inn hotel at Dubai's Deira Islands by 2023
British hospitality giant says 170-room hotel within Nakheel megaproject will target business and leisure travellers
British hospitality firm IHG has signed a management agreement to develop a Holiday Inn-branded hotel at Dubai's Deira Islands, which real estate company Nakheel is developing, as part of its strategy to increase its mid-scale offerings in the Middle East.
Set to open by 2023, the hotel will comprise 170 rooms and will target business and leisure travellers.
IHG has a further 38 properties in the development pipeline, which are due to open within the next three to five years.
Deira Islands, which includes four man-made islands, is a mixed-use waterfront development featuring 600ha retail space, 3,000 apartments, a mall, a night souk, an amphitheatre, and a marina, in addition to multiple hotel properties.
“This is the sixth signing for our mid-scale portfolio in the Middle East this year, and we are very pleased with the strong progress we are making in this segment,” said IHG’s managing director for India, the Middle East, and Africa, Pascal Gauvin.
“We are excited about this new venture and look forward to welcoming guests to this highly anticipated location in 2023.”
