Abu Dhabi Municipality (ADM) has completed the third phase of irrigation and natural beautification works on Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Street and the entrance to Al Reem Island at a cost of $16.8m (AED61.8m).
The project was aimed at enhancing the public civilizational scene, and providing modern infrastructure that caters to the community members.
As part of the natural beautification and cosmetic agriculture works on both sides of the road, the authority carried out the planting of 96 palm trees and 380 regular trees; the cultivation of cover soil; seasonal flowers and grass with an area of ​​20,506m2; the implementation of an irrigation network of 13,729m; and drip irrigation pipes 52,947m long; and the installation of eight remote control devices.
In addition, 30,300m2 of curbstone and 98,060m2 of floor tiles were installed.
The works also included the construction of 215 new car parks; the modification of 67 parking spaces; the implementation of a 4,442m cycling track; the installation of 1,038 lighting units and 11 street lighting poles, in addition to 17 electrical feeding panels; and installation of cosmetic furniture.Â
