Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed work on the roads and bridges project at the intersection of Al Rebat and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Roads, near Mirdif City Centre.
The project, which comprised widening of the roads and bridges, was opened to public on 20 November.Â
According to RTA, the completed works include the addition of one lane to Al Rebat and Tripoli Streets and the widening of the existing bridges.
The improvements will enhance the link between the emirates of Dubai and Sharjah as well as ease the traffic flow and improve safety along the corridor.
Earlier, RTA had carried out improvement projects on all intersections along Tripoli Street including the flyover linking with Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Road, bridges linking with Emirates Road and Nouakchott Street, and a tunnel at the intersection of with Algeria St, Mirdif-Al Warqaa.Â
Additionally, RTA also completed the construction of a new road extending along the wild area extending from the intersection of Tripoli street and Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Road up to the Emirates Road.
The road, which extends 5.3km, comprises three lanes in each direction, marking the urbanisation of the Wadi Al Shabak area.
On 21 November, RTA revealed that progree on the intersection between the Al Khawaneej and Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan roads reached 72%, with all construction works expected to be completed by March 2021.
Meanwhile, the construction of the overall Al Khawaneej Road Improvement Project has crossed the 52% milestone. The project includes improving three main intersections on Al Khawaneej and Al Amardi Streets, as well as the construction of 23km of service roads along the Al Khawaneej and Al Amardi streets.
