The General Directorate of Social Development in Oman’s Governorate of Dhofar has laid the foundation stone to mark the start of construction on a vocational rehabilitation building project at the Al-Wafa Centre for Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities in Salalah.
The ceremony also witnessed the signing of project agreements and contracts – as part of the Ministry of Energy and Minerals’ Social Investment Initiative.
The project will consist of four basic halls for vocational training for Persons with Disabilities, in addition to a large multi-purpose hall and a main hall for visitors. Â
The vocational rehabilitation building is expected to play a crucial role in the comprehensive rehabilitation process for the handicapped, leading to their training and employment.
The project also demonstrates a model for social responsibility and social work between the government and the private sector in the areas of social development.Â
The chairman of the Board of Directors of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry Branch in the Dhofar Governorate, Eng Hussain bin Huthith Al-Bath; the acting director-general of the General Directorate of Social Development in the Dhofar Governorate, Ahmed bin Aslam Al-Shehri; and the head of the Al-Wafa Centre for Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities in Salalah, Eng Muhammad bin Salem Ba Omar, were present at the event according to the state-run Oman News Agency.
