Construction of the Khorfakkan Amphitheatre project is in its final stage, with work progressing on schedule and final finishes being added to the project.

Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, HH Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, inspected and toured the project, including its seating facilities.

The Sharjah Ruler viewed pictures of the various stages and parts of the project, while being briefed on the project’s progress. HH Dr Sheikh Sultan offered notes and directions for the final touches on the project.

The Khorfakkan Amphitheatre is expected to open soon with a ceremony and big screenings. Once opened, the amphitheatre is scheduled to screen the “Khorfakkan” film, which will include additions that were not included in the film during its first screening when Sharjah Ruler opened the Khorfakkan Road. The film will narrate events that took place during the period marking the Portuguese invasion of Khorfakkan CIty.

The tour of the Khorfakkan Amphitheatre project was part of the Sharjah Ruler’s inspection of a set of key development projects and tourist sites in Khorfakkan. HH Dr Sheikh Sultan was received by the chairman of Sharjah’s Initiatives Implementation and Infrastructure Development Authority, Eng Salah bin Butti Al Muhairi.

The Sharjah Ruler also visited the Al Rafisah Dam, and directed the addition of shaded family gathering spots, as well as barbecue sites.

HH Dr Sheikh Sultan also directed the construction of parking lots and toilets at Al Rafisah Dam, as well as the establishment of a mountain path linking the current parking lots and the Al Rafisa water channel, which allows for an access to the Al Rafisa towers and the ability to return to the parking lots.

Once complete, the Al Rafisa Dam will also include facilities such as a restaurant, café, and a games area, according to the state-run news agency, Wam.
