A package covering infrastructure and road works around Oman’s new International Convention and Exhibition Centre was the largest of $54.7m worth of contracts awarded by the country’s tender board yesterday.
The package, which is the fifth to be awarded around the $1bn convention centre near Muscat, is worth around $28m, or 10.8m Omani Rials.
According to the Oman News Agency, the board, chaired by Dr. Rasheed bin Al Safi al-Huraibi, also approved a number of other construction schemes including a $17.7m package to build 97 houses, a mosque, a Majlis and public utilities at Al Awabi village in Baushar in the Muscat Governate and a $4.4m consultancy contract for a project to extend the borders of the continential shelf.
A $3.4m deal tender was also awarded for additional works on the Umm Al Ghawarif dual carriageway project in Salalah City and $636,000 for extra work on the Bidbir-Sur dual carriageway scheme.
The board also opened bids for several new schemes including a nwe dual carriagweay scheme from Mahadha-Al Radwa in the Al Buraimi governate, a recharge dam at Wadi Kalboh in the Wilayat of Nizwa in the Governate of A’Dakhiliyah.
Tenders were also opened for construction of a fishing harbour at Liwa and a market at Saham in North Al Batinah, and for a new water distribution network at Khasab in the Musandam Governate.
