Gas exporting company RasGas has opened a large, state-of-the-art warehouse at its premises in the Ras Laffan area.
According to The Peninsula, the project was started in 2009 and commissioning work started in April last year. The new complex contains a receiving office, shutdown and logistics office, pallet racking, mobile racking, indoor laydown area, preservation area and cantilever for storing tubes.
Other facilities include chemical storage, equipment-charging, liquid chemical stores, air-conditioned lab chemical store, general store and an area for gas storage with detectors.
The company, which largely exports liquefied natural gas to Korea, said that the work was carried out on schedule and with no lost-time incidents due to injuries. Rasgas CEO Rashid Al Mohannadi thanked contractor Imperial Trading & Contracting Co for delivering the project successfully.
“As a world-class energy supplier striving for excellence, we always ensure that we remain top class in all departments, be it in production, storage or maintenance. To match with the most advanced technology used in our production facilities, we have made it a point to bring the most innovative techniques in the field of storage too,” said Al Mohannadi.
