Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is 2,907m of the way through a $15.6mn (AED57.5mn) 3km water pipeline project in Palm Jumeirah.

The development is to supply, extend and launch a 600/900mm water-pipeline network in the Palm, which will raise water suppply to meet increasing demand and support current and future projects.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, said: “The main goal of this project is to enhance efficiency of the water-transmission networks, and increase water supply to meet the increasing demand for water to support current and future projects on the Palm and its sustainable development.

“DEWA provides a reliable infrastructure that is capable of meeting the requirements for development, in line with its strategy to enhance the efficiency and reliability of water networks to meet increasing demand and raise water supply to meet growth across different parts of Dubai.

“The project includes extending 600/900mm Glass Reinforced Epoxy (GRE) main pipes along the trunk of the Palm through the tunnel until it reaches the crescent of the Palm. So far, 93% of the total project has been completed.

“The project is going according to plan. Work on the extension and launching of the networks is expected to be completed next October.”
