Bahrain’s Electricity and Water Affairs Minister Dr Abdulhussain Mirza signed an agreement with the Jaffariya Endowment Authority for the Solar One Company to provide places of worship and Waqf properties with solar energy systems.Â
The minister said similar systems had been installed in the northern region last year, in coordination with the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) and the Sustainable Energy Unit.
He also commended the cooperation of the Ministry of Justice under the direction of the Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments, Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa, noting his interest in such initiatives to utilise solar energy.
The solar energy systems will be installed in mosques, buildings, and religious establishments which contribute to achieving the national goal of 5% energy use to become solar by 2025.
The long-term agreement with Solar One entails the installation of solar electricity production systems on its buildings in Seef district and later on its properties around Bahrain, BNA reported.
