Abu Dhabi-based Ahlia Group will build a $100m, 120-bed hospital in Sharjah Healthcare City, the Sharjah Healthcare City Authority (SHCC) announced on Wednesday.
The multi-specialty hospital will be spread across 50,000m2 of space and will be the first hospital to be built within the healthcare city, the authority revealed at a press event.Â

The announcement follows an earlier memorandum of understanding (MoU) that was signed between Ahalia Group and SHCC.
The site is now expected to double to 4.8 million square metres from the previous 2.4 million square metres originally planned to accommodate several global hospitals and other related organisations.
The construction of the healthcare city is expected to be completed in several phases and scheduled to begin after the summer. The clinical building and healthcare offices will be built over 10,000 square metres.

As part of the updated plan, construction will also include a medical logistics zone.
