Consultant ACG will announce which MEP and lift firms have won subcontracts to work on its 134,000m2 Fujairah Mall project within the next two weeks.

Tenders for the AED 425 million mixed-use complex, which is currently under construction, have been received from lift firms such as Kone and Schindler, as well as several MEP firms from an approved supplier list.

Set to feature the first shopping mall in the developing emirate, as well as a 22-storey Millennium hotel, a food court, an ice rink, a hyper-market and six cinemas, it is one of Fujairah’s most significant projects, scheduled for completion in September 2012.

Dubai Lagoons builder Commodore Contracting Company has already been appointed as the main contractor to the project, starting work in August this year, and has completed the raft foundation for the hotel.

Speaking about the project, ACG’s area manager of Dubai and the Northern of Emirates Bchara Abouchakra, said: “Because we’re still at the beginning of the project we have only appointed some of the main contractors and subcontractors.

“At the moment we’re in the process of appointing subcontractors for the main equipment, so for the lifts, Schindler and Kone have tendered, we’ll appoint a lift supplier soon.

“We are also going to appoint an MEP contractor within the next one to two weeks. In general we have an approved tender list and the contractor has to appoint companies from that list.”

To date, ACG has selected two steel suppliers, one of which is G2 International, two concrete suppliers, including Fujairah-based Orimix, as well as waterproofing contractor BMC – also contracted for the Dubai Lagoons project.

Other packages to be awarded further down the line include those for the lighting, the ice rink and cinema building technologies, as well as those for the aluminium and glass.

It is expected that Commodore Aluminium will be providing the aluminium and glass supplies.
