Video: Construction Week In Focus | The engineer's 2018 wish list

Engineering professionals' top expectations revealed in year-end episode of CW's YouTube series

As the festive season kicks off, Construction Week explores what engineers in the GCC have on their wish lists for 2018.

From higher salaries to better training programmes, regional engineers have expressed a desire for greater professional development opportunities in 2018.

Construction Week's video on engineering professionals' requirements will be published at 9am Dubai time on 25 December, 2018. Enable a YouTube reminder for yourself to receive an early notification to watch the report.

The good news for employers is that the GCC's engineers enjoy working in the region, largely due to the impressive scale of projects under way in busy construction markets such as the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

This optimistic outlook should buoy construction firms seeking to attract as well as retain top talent in 2019. However, engineering professionals may also have to be incentivised to work with a potential or existing employer – be it through better pay packages, or attractive learning opportunities.

In the year-end episode of Construction Week In Focus, Neha Bhatia and Oscar Rousseau, editor and deputy editor of Construction Week, review what the typical engineer's wish list contains in 2018.

Construction Week In Focus is a weekly bulletin of the Middle East's top news from the real estate development, contracting, MEP, facilities management, and equipment sectors.
