Video: Construction Week In Focus | What's exciting about 2019?

CW kicks off 2019 by counting down the most exciting projects of the new year

The first Construction Week In Focus episode of 2019 explores the top GCC projects that will open in the new year.

These include Dubai Arena, developed by Meraas and set to be Dubai's new top location for music concerts and sports, with a capacity of up to 17,000 when it opens its doors in the emirate’s trendy City Walk area.

Construction Week's video will be published at 9am Dubai time on 1 January, 2019. Enable a YouTube reminder for yourself to receive an early notification to watch the report.

The eagerly awaited Royal Atlantis Resort & Residences on Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah is also expected to complete and open for business in 2019. Estimated to be worth up to $1.4bn (AED5.14bn), the 46-storey development will operate as a sister hotel to Atlantis, The Palm, and will have close to 800 guest rooms and more than 230 serviced apartments.

Equally anticipated in 2019 is Saudi Arabia’s flagship $23bn (SAR86.3bn) Riyadh Metro rail project. Consisting of six colour-coded metro lines that run between 25-40km with stations named after the kingdom’s biggest businesses, the megaproject is expected to be fully operational next year, according to the High Commission for the Development of Arriyadh.

In this video, Construction Week's deputy editor and senior reporter, Oscar Rousseau and Jack Ball, review the most exciting GCC construction projects under way or due to complete in 2019.
