CW Expo Reaction | Expomobilia's Dietmar Kautschitz on #Expo2020
EXCLUSIVE: The chief customer officer at Expomobilia talks about health, safety, and construction progress of the Norway Pavilion
Construction Week has been talking to experts within the industry as well as officials spearheading the participation of various countries at Expo 2020 Dubai, ever since the World Expo revealed its year-long postponement.
In the sixth episode of Construction Week's YouTube series — Expo Reaction — Dietmar Kautschitz, chief customer officer at Expomobilia — which is a globally active general contractor for modular and temporary constructions, as well as the general contractor for the Norway, Netherlands, Finland, and Switzerland pavilions at Expo 2020 Dubai, speaks to Construction Week's deputy editor Anup Oommen.
Kautschitz tells CW that it is important to prioritise health and place it "above everything else" in these unprecedented times.
"The Expo will be seen as a restart in connecting the world in all regards," Kautschitz says, while commenting on the year-long postponement on the World Expo.
He adds: "The postponement even benefits Expomobilia, which has long-term experience already at Expo 2020 Dubai in terms of requirements and regulations to follow. This will be helpful for new countries entering the Expo now, who haven't yet decided to participate. We are very happy to support them."
Talking about the progress on the construction of the Norway Pavilion, Kautschitz adds: “The Norway Pavilion, which looks like a ship, is a really wonderful project. We are very proud of the fact that we were awarded this project. At this moment, approximately 80% of the works are done.
"We have finalised the steel structure. We are covering now the envelope of the pavilion. We have started with the roof panels, and more."
